Another first from Weighing Solutions & Instrumentation is the introduction of actual USB weighing scales. These are weighing scales with true USB connectivity. Unlike most manufacturers in India, we do not use serial-to-USB converters to achieve USB connectivity. Instead, our scales come with a real USB port. This eliminates the need for RS-232 to USB converters.
Problems with RS-232 Enabled Scales:
The modern computer systems does not have RS-232 connectivity as standard now a days. You need to buy a older computer system or you need to install PCI Express card to have a serial port connectivity in modern computer systems. However, it is not possible to install the PCI express cards in the laptops and none of the laptop available in market have serial port.
The weighing scales available in the market have only RS-232 serial port connectivity. For connecting the weighing scales to the computer system. As the RS-232 port is obsolete now and the USB port have taken over. Most of the manufacturers of digital weighing scales are installing a Serial to USB converter inside the weighing scale to make them USB enabled. This does not give trouble free operation to the user. The most common problem faced by the user is that the device gets disconnected very often. And it is not easy to reconnect the device. Sometimes, it requires to restart the system to enable the system to recognise the device and reconnect. Also the connection speed is slower than the actual USB devices. These problems become very huge in critical and high speed applications.

How It Works
The scales waits for the weight kept on the platform to stabilize. Once the weight is stable and final stable weight data is available, the same is transmitted through USB port to connected device as keyboard keystrokes.
For example, a weight of 1.455 sent by the scale appears instantly as 1.455 in any open software input field.
